What the Catalogue Covers

Selden yacht product catalogue (595-808-E, Version 8): accessories and spare parts for approximately 28’ to 80’ yachts. Selden rigs are dimensioned from the righting moment at 30° heel and the designer's sail plan; quote the number engraved at the mast heel (e.g. K23-C211-4475, where 211 is the major diameter) when ordering parts. Page numbers are as printed.

Choose the Right Furlex

Pick the Furlex by forestay diameter and the boat's righting moment at 30° heel (or displacement), then the kit by maximum forestay length. Bushings for BSI rods are available from Selden. Furlex is also available with compact wire: add "C" to the article number (e.g. 035-025-51C).

Choosing the Right Rodkicker

The choice is based mainly on the righting moment (approximately proportional to displacement) and the rig type. The table is for monohulls. Gas springs come in several strengths to cover boom weight (including the stowed sail) and the Rodkicker angle; the gas spring choice by boom section and XBH is on page 74. Kicking strap tackle is not included.

Boom Sections Choice

You need the sail foot length (E) and the righting moment (RM) at 30° heel (or displacement), plus the Y and S measurements. Read Emax and Ymax (m) for sections B087 to B380 in the tables below (pages 64–65).

The luff load on a Code 0 is more than double that of an asymmetric spinnaker, so a sturdy bowsprit is required. A dedicated Code 0 halyard with 2:1 purchase is recommended.

Selecting the Right Pole

Look up your displacement or righting moment (RM) at 30° heel, then read right for the value exceeding your SPL or J. Catalogue example: displacement 8.0 tonnes, SPL 6100 mm → aluminium section 99/99. Poles should have the downhaul attached via a bridle or at the outboard end; with a central attachment go one diameter up. A whisker pole should be approximately as long as the foot of the sail you intend to pole out.
