Facnor Facslide Gaff Lock — Instructions

Components & Rigging

  • Components: track, cars, gaff lock with sheave, and a shackle.
  • The halyard is rigged 2/1 from the masthead through the gaff lock sheave; the sail ring connects to the shackle.

Connecting the Sail

  • Be very careful with the direction of the shackle: the pin goes on top.
  • Connect your sail ring to the bow (rounded side) of the shackle.
  • Allen key size 5 for the shackle pin.
  • You can add a soft connection (a small Dyneema link) between the sail ring and the shackle to stop the shackle turning.
