Facnor Furlers: Genoa, Jib, Gennaker and Code Zero Furlers by Boat Size
A furler lets you set, reef and stow a headsail or a reaching sail from the cockpit, without sending anyone to the foredeck. Facnor builds three families we sell: LS and Flat Deck (FD) furlers for genoas and jibs, and FX+ continuous-line furlers for gennakers and Code Zero sails. The model you need follows from your boat length, the sail you fly and, for a headsail furler, your forestay diameter. This page is the Facnor hub: the furlers themselves and their spares sit in the sub-collections linked below, and the three items listed directly on this page are Facnor stanchion fairleads.
Facnor Furler Families and Boat-Size Ranges
- Facnor LS jib furlers: nine models, each listed with its boat-size range — LS 60 (20 to 23 ft), LS 70 (24 to 26 ft), LS 100 (26 to 30 ft), LS 130 (30 to 35 ft), LS 165 (34 to 39 ft), LS 180 (36 to 42 ft), LS 200 (42 to 47 ft), LS 290 (45 to 60 ft) and LS 330 (50 to 90 ft). Facnor fits the LS/LX/RX drum and swivel with a "bearing box" so furling stays easy under high halyard tension. See the Facnor LS series, starting with the LS 130 or the LS 200.
- Facnor Flat Deck (FD) genoa and jib furlers: FD110 (26 to 29 ft), FD190 (29 to 39 ft), FD210 (29 to 43 ft), FD230 (36 to 43 ft) and FD310 (41 to 60 ft). The Flat Deck is the Facnor furler with webbing between the drum and the furling-line swivel, so the furling line does not overlap on the drum, and its low-profile drum leaves you the maximum luff. See the Facnor Flat Deck series or the FD210.
- Facnor FX+ gennaker and Code Zero furlers: FX+ 900 (20 to 30 ft), FX+ 2500 (40 to 45 ft), FX+ 4500 (42 to 55 ft) and FX+ 7000 (55 to 70 ft), with ratchet versions of the 2500, 4500 and 7000, plus the FXT 4500 (31 to 55 ft). An FX furler has two main parts, a flat continuous-line drum and a swivel, and Facnor describes it as half the weight of a standard gennaker furler. See the Facnor gennaker and Code Zero furlers, for example the FX+ 900 or the FX+ 4500 with ratchet.
- Furling lines: ready-made lines with webbing for the Flat Deck (5/16 in at 32.8 ft, and 3/8 in at 59.0, 65.6 and 90.8 ft) and loop-spliced lines for the FX range (1/4 in at 39 and 52 ft, 5/16 in at 52 and 65 ft). See the Facnor furling lines.
- Bowsprits: Facnor Sparcraft complete kits in 70 mm (25 to 36 ft boats), 80 mm (36 to 40 ft), 90 mm (40 to 47 ft) and 100 mm (48 to 57 ft), to carry a gennaker or Code Zero tack forward of the bow. See the Facnor bowsprits.
- Facslide batten cars: mainsail batten car systems and tracks for the Facslide F10 to F40 range. See the Facnor batten car systems.
- Stanchion fairleads (the products on this page): the Articulated Stanchion Fairlead, and two double fairleads, one for 1.0 in (25 mm) stanchions and one for 1 1/8 in (28 mm) stanchions. The 25 mm listing names the LS100, LS130, LX100, LX130 and FD170 as the furling systems it is adapted to.
How to Choose a Facnor Furler
- Start from boat length and sail type: a genoa or jib goes on an LS or Flat Deck furler; a gennaker or Code Zero goes on an FX+ or FXT. Read the boat-size range in the product title for your model. The ranges overlap, so a boat near the edge of one range can fit the neighbouring model too.
- Check the forestay: the LS technical tables list the forestay diameter each model takes, from 5 mm (3/16 in) on the LS 60 up to 16 mm (5/8 in) on the LS 330. Measure yours before you order; the spare bushings and halyard deflector wheels are also listed by stay diameter.
- LS or Flat Deck: choose the Flat Deck when you want the furling line led through webbing with no overlap on the drum and a low drum profile; choose the LS for the standard Facnor drum and swivel with a fixed tack fitting. Both are listed per boat size.
- Top-down or flat, with or without ratchet: our Facnor gennaker and Code 0 guide explains when a gennaker needs a top-down furler and a Code 0 a flat one. The ratchet versions of the FX+ 2500, 4500 and 7000 let you furl in stages and hold the sail under load.
- Plan the tack point: a gennaker furler does not always need a bowsprit, but if you want the sail further forward the Facnor Sparcraft kits cover boats from 25 to 57 ft.
Spares and Service
Spare parts are organised by model — drum mechanisms, head swivels, bushing and pin kits, link plates, sail feeders, halyard deflector wheels and extrusion sections. Match the model on your drum (LS, LX, RX, FD or FX+) and your stay diameter before you order. Browse the Facnor genoa and jib furler parts or the Facnor gennaker and Code Zero parts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Facnor furler fits my boat?
Match your boat length to the range in the product title: LS 60 for 20 to 23 ft up to LS 330 for 50 to 90 ft, and FD110 for 26 to 29 ft up to FD310 for 41 to 60 ft. Then check the forestay diameter and the sail area before you order. Our genoa and jib furler guide walks through the choice.
What is the difference between the Facnor LS and Flat Deck furlers?
The Flat Deck connects the drum to the furling line through webbing, so the line does not overlap on the drum, and its low-profile drum keeps the maximum luff. The LS uses the standard Facnor drum and swivel with a bearing box and a fixed tack fitting. Both are listed by boat size.
Do I need a bowsprit for a Facnor gennaker or Code Zero furler?
Not necessarily. Our Facnor gennaker and Code 0 guide explains that a tack point at the bow or a short sprit is typically enough. If you want the sail further forward, Facnor Sparcraft bowsprit kits are listed for boats from 25 to 57 ft.
Does a Facnor furler need servicing?
Facnor states that its furling equipment needs no maintenance beyond rinsing it with fresh water several times during the season, to stop salt build-up. Wear parts such as bushings, the furling line and the halyard deflector wheel can be replaced with genuine spares. Our Facnor furler service guide covers what you can do yourself.
How do I find the right spare part for my Facnor furler?
Start from the model on your drum and your stay diameter, then use the spares collections for genoa and jib or for gennaker and Code Zero furlers. Our model guides cover the LS and Flat Deck ranges.
