- FAST 12000: contact Facnor (custom).
- FAST XL is the larger model, suitable for structural-luff sails; option tack spool for structural sails.
- Rotating tack fitting with Torlon® balls and captive quick-release pin. Option: solid sheave used to adjust the tack point.
- With the FAST adapter the anti-twist rope rotates up to the top and transmits the rotation from the head to the tack of the sail: the head furls first, then down to the tack. With a gennaker or Code Zero on an FX+ swivel, tack and head furl simultaneously.
The full dimension sheet for FAST 1500 to FAST 20000 is in the PDF downloads.
Using FAST
Attachment & Furling
- Secure the tack with the sail using the tack attachment rope and shackle provided; the loop goes around the tack body.
- Start furling the asymmetric spinnaker by pulling the furling line: the head of the sail furls in first, then down to the tack.
- Block the furling line after furling. The furled sail can then be easily lowered and stored.
Precautions & Care
- Preparation and hoisting precautions are the same as for FX+ gennaker furlers (see the FX+ instructions).
- At the beginning of the handling, always check that nothing prevents the head of the sail from furling freely.
- In light air, if necessary, increase the pressure in the sail by sailing slightly upwind.
- Rinse the mechanisms after use.
Tack Spool Rope Breakage (Option Tack Spool Only)
- If the rope that runs through the twin spool breaks, everything becomes loose and you can no longer furl the sail.
- Screw in the safety screw underneath (blue in the drawing) to secure the rotating tack point to the thimble body. You can then furl the sail the standard way instead of top-down.
- The thimble body has machined oblong slots: rotate it while screwing so the end of the safety screw engages properly in one of them.
