Box Content & Options
- Motorization kit or standard kit, 4500 & 7000: aluminium whisker pole supplied at length, swivel with protective cover (complete kit), bridle attachment, topping lift attachment, tack attachment and textile shackles (one delivered, one installed).
- Electrical wire output: 2 x 6mm², L 7m (bowsprit included). Do not leave the wire on the ground or drag it, and do not immerse it in sea water.
- Options: textile bridles kit or special wire bridles kit (bridle attachment + wire, stropes kit for textile bridles), wireless remote control, wire control, FAST thimbles 4500 & 7000, LB4T5 & LB7T snatch blocks.
- Serial number: 4 digits. Warranty: 2 years. Tools are not provided.
Bowsprit & Crossbeam
- Add a topping lift (rope or wire) between the top of the cathedral and the bowsprit shackle to hold the bowsprit.
- Connect the bowsprit to the beam; the end fitting depends on the boat.
- Thru pin: position the rear end in the beam connection, insert the pin (1), the washers (2), then secure with a split pin (3).
- Whisker pole pin (pin not supplied): partially unscrew the screws on both sides of the rear tip (so they do not fall in the water), insert the pin and tighten the 2 screws.
- Holed beam: simply insert the rear end into the beam housing.
Bridles & Wiring
- Wire bridles: hook the wire to the hull padeye (with a double jaw toggle for example). Textile bridles: hook the textile to the padeye.
- IB-FXE 4500 (pin/screw): engage the bridle axis through the bridle attachment and the eye of the stropes, then fit the 2nd screw with blue threadlocker, making sure it sits in the countersink.
- IB-FXE 7000 (pin/split pins): engage the bridle axis the same way, fit the 2nd split pin and open it as much as possible.
- Connect the wire to the supplied relay box (instructions ref. 29160050151) on "TO DRIVE UNIT", after cutting the excess if necessary. Remote control options: instructions ref. 29160050195.
Use, Safety & Maintenance
- Lay the sail on deck and check the halyard layout; make sure the sail passes above the martingale cables.
- Bottom: connect the tack by engaging the pin until it locks ("click"); to disconnect, press the trigger to extract the pin. Top: open the trigger pin, connect the head and refit the protection cover.
- Check the halyard tension, then unfurl while watching what is around you, and check furl-in and furl-out visually.
- To furl: tension the luff, keep the sheet slightly tensioned, press the remote or wired control and release the sheet progressively; bear away and ease the sheet well.
- Be vigilant during foredeck work, especially when connecting or disconnecting the tack. Do not handle the IB-FXE while it furls in or out.
- The operator holding the control is in charge of the manoeuvre; controls are for responsible adults only; never press a button while a crew member handles the drive unit.
- Do not keep the sail hoisted: lower it when not in use and before harbour manoeuvres to reduce windage. Check the whisker pole topping lift in harbour or at anchor.
- Rinse the mechanisms with clear water after every use.
