CAN Interface (Yanmar J1939)

  • GW-2Y connects a Yanmar J1939 bus to S-Link: S-Link spur cable to the backbone, Yanmar bus to the M12 male CAN INTERFACE connector.
  • GW-2Y does not power the CAN bus and has no termination resistor on the M12 output; CAN-L and CAN-H are galvanically isolated. Sleipner does not supply cables for the CAN bus.
  • M12 pinout: pin 1 NC, pin 2 NC, pin 3 GND, pin 4 CAN-H, pin 5 CAN-L.
  • TX / RX LEDs flash (max 100ms on / 100ms off) when sending / receiving.

NMEA 0183 GPS Input

  • V OUT can power a single GPS antenna, max 100mA, internally fused (S-Link bus voltage). RX A(+) and TX B(-) are galvanically isolated.
  • 4800 and 38400 baud are supported and set automatically; $GxRMC sentences from all positioning systems are supported.
  • NMEA 0183 LED flashes 100ms/100ms for a valid message at 38400 baud, 100ms/900ms at 4800 baud; off = no valid signal.
  • GNSS priority: 1) NMEA0183 at 100ms update rate, 2) NMEA0183 at 1000ms update rate.
  • Status LED: off = no power; on = S-Link communication and power OK; flashing 500ms/500ms = power OK but no S-Link communication.

Installing the GW-2Y

  1. Fasten the GW-2Y box to a solid surface with four mounting screws.
  2. Attach the required cables. No external power is needed – GW-2Y is powered from S-Link.

The typical connection diagram in the PDF shows GW-2Y between the Sleipner system (PPC unit, Sleipner panel, thruster switch) and the Yanmar system bus (helm, joystick, display, engine and drive ECUs).
