Sleipner and Side-Power Thrusters, Controls and Spares: Where to Find Each One

Sleipner makes its thrusters under the Side-Power name, and that is how they are listed in our catalog. This is the top-level Sleipner page: the products sit in the sections below, split by thruster type, controls and spare parts. The Sleipner range we carry is bow and stern thrusters with their controls, tunnels and spares.

Thrusters
  • Sleipner bow thrusters: the main page for tunnel and retractable bow thrusters (SE, SEP, E-series and the retractable SR, SRL, SRV, ERL and ERV families), in 12V, 24V and 48V depending on the model. The number in a Side-Power model name is the rated thrust in kgf, measured at 10.5V on a 12V system (21V on 24V), so a unit gives more at a full 12V. Our guide How to Choose a Sleipner Bow Thruster walks through the choice.
  • Side-Power retractable thrusters: ERL170 (low profile, 24V and 48V) and ERV210 (vertical, 24V or 48V) and ERV300 (vertical, 48V) and the other retractable models, which stow inside the hull when you are under way.
  • Sleipner stern thrusters: the SX range on/off in SX35 (12V, 35 kgf), SX50 (12V, 50 kgf), SX80 and SX100 (12V or 24V), and the SXP80 and SXP100 proportional versions. The SX35 and SX50 are listed for 50 mm and 150 mm hull thickness.
  • The wider Sleipner bow and stern thrusters page lists the ranges together.
Tunnels, Cowls and Propellers
  • Tunnels: GRP tunnels in 140 mm and 185 mm and aluminum tunnels in larger diameters such as 300 mm and 386 mm, in lengths from 1.0 m to 2.0 m.
  • Cowls and grids for stern tunnels from 125 mm to 386 mm.
  • Propellers: 3-blade and 4-blade replacements, and Q-Prop 5-blade upgrade kits for older models such as the 55S, 75T and 95T.
  • Anodes and zincs: aluminum alloy anodes for 125 mm, 185 mm and 250 or 300 mm tunnel thrusters, plus zinc anodes for older models.

How to Choose
  • Bow or stern, tunnel or retractable. Sleipner's advice for placement is the tunnel as far forward and as deep as the hull allows. A retractable thruster avoids drag when stowed but needs height and depth inside the boat.
  • Read the model name. SE is on/off tunnel and SEP is variable speed (PRO); SR, SRL and SRV are retractable, EX is external, SX is a stern thruster, and E, ERL and ERV are the eVision variable-speed range. IP means ignition protected.
  • Match the part to the model. Propellers, anodes, couplers, drive pins and ANL fuses are listed by the model or tunnel size they fit. Check that number before you order a spare.
Frequently Asked Questions

Does MAURIPRO sell Sleipner stabilizers?
No. The Sleipner products in our catalog are Side-Power bow, stern and retractable thrusters with their controls, tunnels and spare parts. Some of the IP65 remote kits also operate a windlass.

Why are Sleipner products listed as Side-Power?
Side-Power is the Sleipner thruster brand. The product titles read Side-Power (Sleipner) so you can find them under either name.

What does the number in a Side-Power model mean?
It is the rated thrust in kgf. Sleipner states the figure at 10.5V on 12V systems, so the real thrust at a full 12V is higher.

Where do I find a shear pin, propeller or anode?
In the drivetrain, propellers and anodes sections above. The listings name the thruster models each one fits.

How do I choose between a bow and a stern thruster?
A bow thruster pushes the bow sideways and a stern thruster does the same at the stern. The stern units here (SX and SXP) suit boats that want control at both ends. Start from How to Choose a Sleipner Bow Thruster.
