This manual is split into 2 pages: Part 1 → · Part 2

Electrical Reference Guide

  • Components: battery, fuse, main switch, PPC (proportional models) and motor. Fuse and main switch as close as possible to the positive battery terminal; main switch easy to reach. Dual thrusters on one bank: a fuse and main switch per thruster; dual thrusters on two banks need a common ground (OST guide).
  • Automatic Main Switch: follows the control panel on/off, needs its own fused supply and the right voltage rating.
  • Gasoline engine spaces or areas exposed to explosive gases: use ignition-protected products (ISO 8846, SAE J1171 or UL 1500).
  • Lugs back to back, no washers between lugs, spring washer outermost. After wiring, check with an ohmmeter (main switch off) that neither motor terminal connects to the motor flange.

Total cable length = positive plus negative. NA = not applicable at that length. The 20/110S row gives "2 x 4/0" minimum and "2 x 2/0" recommended AWG at 36–45 m (as printed). The 150/215T AWG row is labelled "2" instead of "AWG" (as printed).

SE to SEP Upgrade (Kit 8 1998 / 8 1999)

  • Converts an SE motor to proportional (SEP) control with a new motor loom and temperature sensor; the control box is fitted on motors from 1999 onwards.
  • Cut the red wire to the old control box so the connections to the two positive solenoid coil terminals and the main positive terminal remain; isolate any redundant wires left protruding from the motor.
  • Fit the temperature sensor to the brush holder without touching the motor housing. Grey and blue to the solenoid coils in the same positions as the old loom, white to A2; the multi cable goes to the PPC.

Post-Installation Checklist

  • Gear leg / motor bracket bolts and motor bolts tightened correctly.
  • All electrical connections clean, dry and tight; correct cable, fuse and main switch size.
  • With an ohmmeter (main switch off): no connection between the motor body/flange and the positive terminal, nor between the motor body and the negative terminal.
  • Anti-fouling on gear leg and propeller, but NOT on anodes, sealing/rubber fittings or propeller shafts.
  • Propeller fastened correctly and turning freely in the tunnel; anode and/or holding screw tight with thread glue.
  • No water leakage round the installation; drive direction matches the control panel; user manual handed to the owner.

Warranty: two years for leisure use, one year for commercial and other non-leisure use, from delivery to the end user (dealer and builder grace periods apply). Wearable/service parts are not covered, and skipping the maintenance described in the manuals voids the warranty on the affected parts.
