Anchoring and Departing
- Engine running; decide where to drop the anchor; loosen the anchor safety line; turn ON the windlass main switch.
- Remote: press both ON buttons (the remote switches off automatically 4 min. after the last press), then DOWN. Fixed panel: press DOWN for at least 1 sec.
- The anchor drops and the rope runs out as the boat moves towards land; tie up the boat.
- Departing: engine on, main switch on, let go the shore lines, hold UP – the windlass pulls the boat off and raises the anchor at full speed until the first auto stop (anchor normally 0,5-1 m under the surface).
- Release and hold UP again: the anchor comes in slowly, with reduced pull, until the second auto stop seats it in the bracket. Attach the safety line and turn off the main switch.
Good to Know
- The windlass always starts slowly before reaching full speed. Double-tap UP (software 1.008 on) for slow retrieve – the only way to wind in right after power-up, since the controller does not remember where the anchor is once unpowered.
- The two-stop sequence applies only to rope windlasses with correctly fitted end-stop rings. If the windlass strains, run it in periods once the boat moves astern.
- Watch the anchor as it leaves the water and seats. Always secure the anchor with a safety line when not in use: the windlass is not a fixed point and the line can slide in the gypsy. Turn the windlass power off when not in use.
- Wireless remote: waterproof, floats, radio range of 15m under normal conditions.
- Controller 150800: full direction and PWM speed control with current and voltage monitoring for a ramped start and slow-pull speed.
Winter Storage
- Take the anchor line off the windlass, soak it overnight in a mild soap solution, then wash and rinse out salt and dirt to keep it flexible; check the auto-stop rings and replace if necessary.
- Spray the windlass and all electrical points and connections with moisture-repellent spray.
- Protect the windlass from snow and water, but do not wrap it (condensation).
- Wash out the anchor line locker and remove seaweed and dirt.
Seasonal Checklist
- Anchor line: damage or excessive wear; stop rings undamaged.
- Windlass clean of dirt and excessive corrosion; anchor safety line in working condition.
- Check for excessive wear inside the gypsy.
- Remove the gypsy and wipe the main axis clean (loosen the gypsy bolt and the bolt on the anchor line guide ring, slide both off).
Basic Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Indication | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Windlass does not operate | "Power" LED not lit | Check the main switch/breaker is engaged, the battery fuses, cables and terminal tightness; measure battery voltage |
| Windlass does not operate | "Power" LED lit | Turn on the panel / remote control |
| Runs only 0,5 seconds when pressing "IN" | – | Check control panel connections: IN and OUT signals may be swapped |
| "OUT" does not engage free fall, or "IN" runs the motor but the gypsy does not turn | – | Swap motor cables D1 and D2 on the control unit |
| Poor performance | "Low voltage" (below 9V) | Measure battery voltage while operating; below 11V/22V charge the batteries. If the battery is fine, the cable voltage drop to the motor terminals should be less than 1V when running |
| Releases anchor but does not wind in | – | Check the end-stop sensor is not active (End Stop LED on the control unit or in the sensor) and its connections; the sensor LED should be off with no metal in front of it |
| Winds past the end stop | – | Check the end-stop wire/ring on the rope is intact and lights the End Stop LED; adjust the sensor closer to the rope if necessary |
| Releases anchor but stops immediately on "IN" | "Low voltage" | A weak battery can read 12/24V at rest but dip when the motor starts, falsely triggering the end-stop sensor |
| Abnormal noise | – | The windlass must be serviced |
| Rope not wound in / anchor not released | – | Rope slipping in the gypsy or anchor not leaving the bracket: check the mounting |
Disconnect the main switch/breaker whenever working on the windlass mechanical parts. If you are unable to understand what to check, consult a distributor.
Operating Safety
- Keep clear of the windlass, anchor line, anchor and brackets during operation, and watch the rope or chain while handling the anchor.
- If the windlass strains while raising, stop for a few seconds and let the boat gain momentum. If the anchor is stuck, pay out some line, make it fast to a cleat and use the boat to break it out: the windlass is not designed for loads beyond its rated pull.
- The anchor must always be secured to the boat while under way (safety line or other means).
- Keep the engine running during windlass operation. Children must not operate the windlass. Never use it close to anyone in the water.
- While dropping the anchor, do not press "UP" until the anchor is resting on the seabed.
Warranty: two years for leisure use, one year for commercial and other non-leisure use, from delivery to the end user (dealer and builder grace periods apply). Wearable/service parts are not covered, and skipping the maintenance described in the manuals voids the warranty on the affected parts.
