Part numbers are the hardware most commonly used, not the only option.

How It Leads

  • A cheek block on the boom end for the reef line.
  • B single block under the boom.
  • C mastbase blocks leading the lines aft.
  • D bullseye at the luff.
  • Dual-line reefing is common on boats of 9 m (30') and larger. Position the blocks so the line pulls down and out, keeping the sail flat and taking lateral load off the luff rope or slides.
  • Lazy jacks contain the main while reefing and dousing; they work especially well with full-battened mains but suit conventional sails too.
