What's Right for Your Boat

  • Thrust: enough for the boat's size, wind area and operating conditions; the further from the pivot point, the more effective the thrust; a reliable, sustained power supply.
  • Space: tunnel thrusters (through the hull, the most common and efficient) when there is room for the tunnel in an effective position; retractable thrusters deploy in use and retract to cut drag (ideal for sailing yachts); external thrusters mount outside the hull, often for retrofits.
  • System: DC for battery systems, AC with a generator, hydraulic with a pump system – ask your Sleipner dealer for a precise recommendation.

Thrust is printed the same at 24/48V and 21/42V: the E-series motors electronically keep rated thrust over a wider voltage range. E30–E95 are new models. In this catalogue the E30–E95 bow table prints TL smaller than TL min. (as printed), and the weight of the E210/250TC is printed 43 kg here and 37 kg in the DC model-range sheet.

Available Upgrades

  • Proportional speed control: most Sleipner (Side-Power) thrusters from the 2000s and newer can move from on/off to proportional control, including the hold function that keeps the boat pressed against the dock with bow and stern units running together.
  • Add a stern thruster for a true dual system and total sideways movement.
  • Motor upgrade to eVision: several earlier models take the latest brushless e-motor, often on the existing brackets, sometimes with an adapter plate or flexible coupling.
  • Q-Prop: typically 20-40% less noise with no loss of performance; upgrade kits for most legacy models.
  • Remote control: handheld control from anywhere on board for short-handed docking.
