Service Intervals

  • Monthly: hose down with fresh water, then lightly oil and grease.
  • Two or three times in the active season: strip, clean and relubricate.
  • End of season or before the new one: strip completely, clean, check for damage, lubricate and reassemble.
  • Dismantle using the exploded views; reassemble in the reverse order.
Lubricant Lewmar recommendation
Grease Lewmar Grease 7010 (Lubriplate Marine Lube 'A', etc.)
Oil Light machine oil (3-in-1 or equivalent)

Mounting

  • Use the correct size and type of retaining bolts; remove the drum to mount.
  • Mount on a flat, clean surface; mark and drill the bolt hole centres separately.
  • Bed on a light coat of sealing compound – too much gets into the gears and pawls.
  • Tighten the fastenings securely but do not overtighten. The winch is self-draining: keep the drain holes clear.
  • All current winches of the time accept any standard international handle.
