Windlass selection and chain guide
Boat length overall against windlass model: Pro-Sport 550, Pro-Series/Fish 700 and 1000, H2, H3, V700, V-Sport/V1, V2 to V6, and V8 2500W, V8 Hi-Power, V10 and V12 for boats from 19.8 m / 65 ft.

How to choose the right windlass
- Size: use the chart with your length and displacement. Example from the catalogue: a 10m (33 ft) boat typically takes a 270kg (600 lb) pull windlass.
- Pulling power: total weight of ground tackle (anchor and rode) × 4 = pulling power required (working load). Use ×4 for all horizontal windlasses and vertical windlasses up to V5; ×2 for V6 and above. Rope is very light and can be factored in.
- Locker: vertical windlasses need a minimum fall of 406mm (18", as printed); horizontal windlasses 304mm (12"). The windlass does not stow the rode – gravity does.
- At anchor the rode should be secured to a chain stopper, a cleat or other mooring point on the bow; a windlass is not a high-load-bearing device.

In the 2010 chain guide the W inch row is printed with the same figures as the D inch row (as printed); use the mm width.
Winch selection guide
Cross-reference yacht size (masthead rigs) or sail area (fractional rigs) with the application. Runner and mainsheet winch selection depends on the purchase system and expected loads; multihulls need larger winches than monohulls of equivalent length.

Winch size by application
Genoa sheet, spinnaker sheet, main sheet, genoa, spinnaker and main halyards, and runners, for winch sizes 6 to 68.

Purchase systems and block loads
Purchase required = output force ÷ input (e.g. 200kg/25kg = 8:1). Winch output = 15kg single-handed or 25kg double-handed × the winch model number, which is also the highest power ratio with a 250mm/10" handle.

- Ball-bearing Synchro Control Blocks: frequently adjusted, free-running sheets and control lines. Synchro Blocks (free spin bearings): high static loads, adjusted less often, such as mainsail halyard or runner controls. Racing Blocks (Torlon roller bearings): combine both.
- Always choose a sheave diameter at least 7x the line diameter.
- Allow a factor of 1.05 per block, multiplied by the number of 180° turns the rope makes in the system.
Mainsheet and genoa cars, track selection

Track specifications and fixing details
All track is extruded from aluminium 6082T6. Beam track spans cockpits and companionway hatches: use three fixing bolts either side of the span. Sliding bolt track fits original bolt holes when retro-fitting. Drilled plunger track suits decks where through-fixing is not possible. 32mm T-track suits cruising boats where sheeting positions change infrequently.
