Service Routine

Monthly: hose down with fresh water, then lightly oil and grease.
Two or three times in the active season: stop, clean and re-lubricate.
End of season or before the new one: strip completely, clean, check for damage, lubricate and reassemble.
Assemble in the reverse sequence to dismantling.
Grease: Lewmar Grease 7010 (Lubriplate Marine Lube 'A', etc). Oil: light machine oil (3-in-1 or equivalent).

Mounting

Use the correct size and type of retaining bolts.
Remove the drum to mount the winch, on a flat, clean surface.
Mark off and drill each bolt hole separately.
Bed on a LIGHT coat of sealing compound: too much gets into the gears and pawls.
Tighten the fastenings securely but do not over-tighten, and keep the drain holes clear.
All current winches accept any standard international handle.
